JET-OPAQUE Transfer Paper

Jet-Opaque Heat Transfer Papers are designed for the ink jet heat transfer printing of photos and images to dark colored T-shirts, sweatshirts, mousepads, puzzles and leather goods. Made by Neenah Paper.
Jet Opaque transfer sheets can be used for the following materials
Recommended for dark colored fabrics. Applies to cotton, cotton/polyester blends and leather. Choose garments that have a tight weave. This is particularly important when transferring to sweatshirts. Note: Dark colored polyester and nylon are not recommended because the dye my migrate into the transfer.
Printing Instructions
- Design or select your design on your computer.
- Do NOT Mirror the image.
- Load the paper so that the image will appear on the coated side of the paper.
- Jet-Opaque Heat Transfer Paper should be fed into the copier with the short dimension first (grain long).
- If desired, trim away any excess unprinted areas of the sheet with scissors, an exacto knife, or a vinyl cutter with the contour cutting capability.
- Slowly peel the paper backing from the transfer film, starting with a small tear in the corner to make separating easier.
- Optional: For multi-piece designs, a low to medium tack standard transfer tape can be used to lift the design off the backing paper. Do not use "clear" transfer tapes.
Heat Press Application
- Preheat the heat press to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Set the press for medium pressure.
- Preheat the garment for a few seconds to remove wrinkles and moisture.
- position the transfer on top of the garment with the image side up. Place the siliconized sheet over transfer. Do not use the silconized sheet if transfer tape is being used.
- Optional: cover the entire transfer with a Teflon sheet to prevent fabric scorching and to keep the heat press clean.
- Press for 30 seconds.
- Remove the siliconized sheet or transfer tape after it cools.
Hand Iron Application
- Preheat iron to highest setting. Do not use steam. (Empty all water.)
- Iron on a very smooth hard surface that is waist level or below. Do not use an ironing board. Place a pillowcase on the surface and iron the pillowcase to remove any wrinkles.
- Put the garment on the center of the pillowcase and iron it to remove wrinkles.
- Place the transfer with the image side up in the center of the garment with the siliconized ironing sheet on top.
- Optional: Cover the entire transfer with a Teflon sheet.
- Hand ironing is recommended only for T-shirts and light-weight fabrics.
Full Sheet Transfer
- Using 2 hands, firmly slide the iron up and down as shown in the diagram. In 90 seconds, make enough passes to completely iron the shirt 2 times. The iron should be halfway off the edge when the edges are ironed.
- Using 2 hands, firmly slide the iron side to side as shown in the diagram. In 90 seconds, make enough passes to completely iron the shirt 2 times including all edges. The iron should be halfway off the edge when the edges are ironed.
- For smaller transfers of one-half sheet or less, the ironing time is reduced to 1.5 minutes total. If the transfer area is smaller than the iron, iron for 30 seconds with heavy pressure.
Paper Removal (Cold Peel)
- Allow transfer to cool for approximately 2 minutes and remove the siliconized paper.
Washing and Drying
- Turn garment inside out and wash in cold water using a mild detergent. Do not use bleach. Dry on low heat setting. Do not iron directly on the transferred area.
Storage
Store unused transfer sheets in a cool dry place. Keep them sealed in the zip lock sleeve that they came in to protect them from moisture and dirt.
Test Application
As with all transfers, always perform a test application on the intended garment before going into production.
